We just completed a large ERP installation (SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.). Do you still think we could benefit from TrueNorth’s services?

TrueNorth was actually created by a group of people who previously worked on large ERP installations and saw the need for such a service. We have clients who are currently running ERP solutions in combination with TrueNorth and are very satisfied with the results.

Do you have a version of the software that we can run locally on our company’s servers, not on the Internet?

Our current strategy only includes Internet-based solutions. We are always open to suggestions on how to improve our service, and if enough interest is found for stand-alone packages, we will consider the feasibility of such a service at that time.

What is the benefit of an Internet-only application?

There is no software to buy, lease, license, load, support, keep up–to–date or become obsolete.

Our company only has a few hundred employees. Would it be worth the trouble to use TrueNorth?

The fact that your staffing resources are limited is a good reason to consider TrueNorth’s services. Our costs are reasonable and the increase in productivity and accuracy of your compliance programs will be measurable. Because ESH expertise is imbedded in our expert system, you can bring our experience into play to manage your compliance program without ESH expertise at each location.

Most software companies charge large fees up front to purchase their software, plus additional costs to configure and support it. What types of costs are involved if we decide to use TrueNorth?

One of TrueNorth’s many advantages is the reasonable cost of entry for our customers. Fees are based on the number of employees tracked in the system and are only incurred as the employees are entered into the system. This gives our customers time to evaluate TrueNorth’s services on a small scale before deciding if they want to commit time and resources to a larger implementation.

Are there multiple service levels available?

Yes. Clients can select the service level that best matches their internal staffing needs, from entering data themselves to leaving all the work to us.

What kinds of compliance data can be captured with TrueNorth?

TrueNorth’s flexible design allows the tracking of DOT, OSHA, EPA and EEOC requirements and company-specified best business practices. TrueNorth can capture of all kinds of compliance data including medical, substance abuse, training, evaluations and endorsements, driver qualifications, facility compliance, incident management and substance abuse program management.

Industry templates also make it easy for a company to start with a set of common rules frequently used by similar organizations and then customize requirements to meet company program standards.

What other services does TrueNorth offer?

TrueNorth can provide full consulting services for ESH Program design, assessment and improvement.

How does the artificial intelligence application work?

An imbedded expert system distills complex rules and requirements into action based reports, which describe what needs to be done, by whom and when. The reporting system lowers the expertise required to manage compliance at the frontlines and produces metrics that can be used to drive compliance performance at all levels of the organization.

Does online documentation meet requirements for recordkeeping?

Yes. TrueNorth’s sophisticated, custom-imaging application allows paperless recordkeeping with full compliance proofs, including signatures.

The IT staff at our company is already extremely busy. Just how involved will they need to be if we use TrueNorth?

Because the TrueNorth application is totally supported and maintained by the TrueNorth technical staff, no support is necessary from our client’s IT department (beyond supplying Internet access and a web browser). This makes TrueNorth an attractive alternative for IT departments that are already operating at full capacity.

Is the data we are entering in TrueNorth’s database secure from hackers?

All data is secure during transmission to and from the TrueNorth site. TrueNorth uses VeriSign, Inc., the leading provider of Internet trust services. VeriSign’s Secure Server ID Certificates provide secure online transactions and the encrypted transmission of sensitive data. All data transmitted to and from the TrueNorth application is encrypted with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, the same technology used to protect nuclear missile codes. After data has been stored in the TrueNorth database, the data is secured by a dedicated Cisco firewall, preventing any unauthorized access.

What about database safety in terms of backups and disaster recovery?

The servers housing our clients’ data utilize RAID5 data management technology, which means the data is stored on independent data disks with distributed parity blocks. Should a drive fail for any reason, the server automatically switches to the remaining drives to recover and continue processing. Additionally, nightly tape backups are performed on all the data with periodic offsite storage and tape rotation schedules. This gives our clients a professionally managed backup and disaster recovery process for all their critical data.

Where are the servers containing my data located? Who has access to them?

TrueNorth has chosen to partner with Rackspace Hosting (www.rackspace.com) for our dedicated web hosting services. Rackspace, an industry leader in dedicated hosting solutions, has 6 global data centers located in North America, Europe and Asia. The TrueNorth servers and storage area networks are housed at the Herndon, Virginia datacenter.

The data center is physically isolated from everyone but level three technicians. Public access is strictly forbidden. Access to the floor the data center resides on is restricted to those holding Rackspace military-grade pass cards. Furthermore, Biometric hand scanners restrict access to the data center itself.

Will the system always be available to access our data?

Through our partnership with Rackspace, we are able to offer our clients an application housed in a world-class, secured data center with a 99.999% uptime guarantee. This state-of-the-art network uses 3 levels of security, N+1 redundant HVAC systems, and a fully switched Cisco network engineered with full redundancy to ensure there is no single point of failure.

Do users need to be computer experts?

No. TrueNorth’s intuitive design lowers the threshold required for users, which reduces training and expertise requirements and lessens stress.

Who owns the data our company has in the TrueNorth database?

Each client owns its own data and documents. We can create a flat file of your data and compressed images and transfer it back to you at anytime. Our fees for creating such a file will cover only our time and expenses.
