About TrueNorth

Lafarge

clients-lafarge2Lafarge is the world leader in building materials, with top–ranking positions in cement, aggregates, concrete and gypsum. Lafarge North America accounts for one–quarter of the company’s business and has over 1300 operating locations in the United States and Canada.  In the area of compliance, managers are responsible for identifying and securing the tools and techniques to comply with safety and health regulations. Safety personnel are responsible for managing MVR reviews, providing safety training and tracking compliance data on CDL carriers in the company.

The Challenge

Lafarge’s Eastern US Region was using a document imaging system to collect driver applications and background check results along with employee physical exams, MVRs and Annual Certification of Violations documents. The system stored raw information, but was unable to perform any meaningful compliance analysis on the information.  It also relied heavily on administration by the human resources department. When organizational changes left the HR function with fewer staff, Lafarge sought other alternatives to assist them in their compliance tracking and analysis.

The Solution

Lafarge reviewed available firms and chose TrueNorth to track driver training and other driver qualification compliance information. Because TrueNorth is set up to operate very efficiently at a decentralized level, TrueNorth was able to customize a compliance tracking and analysis solution that met the requirements for a market area–based program.

The Results

Today, Lafarge personnel send compliance proofs to TrueNorth where they are analyzed, verified, and tracked.  Lafarge receives weekly updates of overall regional compliance as well as statistics according to market area.   Managers can view compliance metrics by area and then drill down to the location or the individual to see any exceptions that might be affecting compliance.  Using sophisticated algorithms, managers can forecast out 30, 60 or 90 days ahead to anticipate future requirements.
